Sooooo Big!!

Maddie has two new great tricks - she's clapping her hands when we do, and also raising her hands above her head for "sooooooo big!!" And she's sooooo cute!! Meanwhile, Ollie and Granddaddy have been VERY busy building an air craft carrier in the workshop for a week or so; Granddaddy takes the design and implementation very seriously! Excellent attention to detail. We got a couple of cool "Blue Angel" jets at the museum yesterday, perfect for landing on the new airstrip.

High Flying

We had another trip to the Owls Head Transportation Museum yesterday - we found out they were having a special exhibit and rally of remote control cars and helicopters and airplanes as well as models of all sorts... couldn't miss that!! Loads of fun. Ollie wore his new overalls, so Grandma suggested we add the train conductor's hat and scarf (usually reserved for the conductor of the Christmas train) to complete the "look!" WAY too cute. Just a few more days and Daddy will be here - we can't wait!!

Busy Busy (well, not *actually* busy)

Been having a nice time up here in Maine... the rain has passed, finally, and today was just gorgeous. Cooler temps coming in now, so I hear, but this morning we had a nice walk down to the harbor and around town, did some raking at the Greatest Cape, had a lovely lunch here at home with our friend, Carole, and then this afternoon we biked in the driveway and attempted kite flying - but we either need an easier kite (maybe) or a better kite-flying mom (definitely).

Maddie has been practing standing up, as you can see (with proud Granddaddy) - she LOVES practicing, always big smiles. This morning, Ollie announced he wanted to "nu-nu up," which is his word for vacuuming (he got it from the name of the vacuum character on Teletubbies). And he tried out just about every bike in the garage this afternoon, including his grandmother's "heirloom" trike!! A really nice day, except that we miss daddy.

More Maine Fun

A few more favorite photos to share... at the playground today with Ollie's friend Weston (who just turned 4), "helping" tidy up the yard today, and a "boys day out" trip to the Owls Head Transportation Museum with Granddaddy yesterday. Busy weekend!!

Kite Flying with Chloe

I can't believe I'm going to write "gorgeous spring day in Maine" and "March" in the same sentance... but I am! We've had beautiful weather up here for the last few days, and everyone's surprised... mom even saw the first blackfly yesterday!! We drove to Union (my hometown) in the afternoon, and when Ollie woke up from his nap in the car (the only place he naps at all now), Chloe found this fantastic kite she'd brought back with her from a trip to China. Pretty much the coolest kite ever. In her typical enterprising way, she fashioned a spool of string from various "found objects," and off we went into her big front field. The kite took off right away, as it's made of lots of tiny bits that hardly weigh anything at all; Ollie loved running back and forth with it, and he did a good job of keeping track of the string. I can't think of a nicer way to spend a sunny afternoon in Maine.

Beautiful Babies

Here are a couple of special videos for Daddy, who's away on his travels.... the first is of Maddie a few weeks ago, getting a good old tickle from Mom. The second video I just took a few minutes ago - it's of Ollie on his trike outside of Granma and Granddaddy's house, well dressed in his sleepy suit and his wellies!! I especially like his impromptu comment. :-)

Fun with Ryan

Ollie had a great playdate today at Titan Gym in Newton with his good friend, Ryan - they had sooo much fun bouncing around on all the trampolines and climbing on various huge objects that they got super exhausted by the end of the hour... hooray! Perfect rainy day fun.

Snazzy!

I wouldn't normally post a photo of our new bathroom vanity, but Andy's away and my email isn't letting me send photos right now, so I'm putting it on here! We decided to make this upgrade just a few weeks before we decided to put the house on the market, so now it's just a big huge GIFT to whoever the new owner is... but in the meantime, we get to enjoy it! Very very lovely... so new it doesn't have knobs on it yet, and we're going to paint the mirror trim to match the rest of the trim in the room. Nice!

And he's off..

We had to say goodbye to Daddy again today - he's off to a bunch of meetings in Europe - so I'm going to do my best to keep the updates coming on here, so he can keep seeing his lambs on a regular basis!! He called on Skype from the airport and showed Ollie all the cool planes outside, which of course Ollie loved to bits. I don't even want to think about how much we're going to miss him; I just hope the time goes quickly.

I'll start with a photo I took yesterday, just because it's waaaay too cute not to post!! Can you tell that Maddie loves having baths? Ollie does too, it's just impossible to get a photo of them both smiling at the same time. :-)

I actually haven't put a new post up here for a while, so I'm looking back a couple of weeks to a great outing we had at Kittatinny State Park - Oliver's first time snowshoeing! Even though the snow was way too deep for it, he was such a good sport. He kept falling down and getting right back up. We were so proud of him! We didn't get very far in them... after trekking across a big field, we ditched the snowshoes and walked on a plowed path the rest of the way, but it was still so much fun. Now we can't wait till Andy's home again so we can get back to having cool family adventures. Love you, sweetie.
