What better way to celebrate love than to spend a weekend in the town where Andy and I first shared a home together?! And in a town we love... Guilford, CT! Just a one-nighter, but that's all we needed -- time to visit a few of our favorite places, wander the town green (or "white," this time of year), drive Ollie past the house that he came home to as a newborn. Sadly, our old house has been painted avocado green - what's up with that??? Ollie was sooooo excited to STAY IN A HOTEL! According to him, we weren't going to Guilford, or even to Connecticut, we were going to a *hotel*. What is it about kids in a single hotel room with 2 beds and a bathroom that makes them so giddy? It was like he'd won the lottery or something. Everything is exciting - pushing buttons on the elevator, using the special key card to get into the room, pushing buttons on the heater, bouncing on the bed... how many times did I hear him say, "Mommy, I'm just so happy here!" "I love it here!" "I don't want to go into town, I want to stay here at the hotel!" The kids enjoyed a super long bath, and Ollie had packed his entire "shaving kit," which you can see he diligently used. We also had a stop at Hammonasset State Park for a walk along the boardwalk and beach, but it turned out to be our shortest walk there ever, as it was just stupidly cold and windy. The kids were great sports, even though I think they could barely breath. Sleeping that night was interesting... who knew that Maddie turns around 180 degrees about 700 times each night? Thanks for another fun weekend, Guilford!
